Steve Diamond
has served the Computer Society since 1997. He is the 2003
Computer Society President, and served as Treasurer in 2001
and Second Vice President for Standards Activities in 2000.
Steve was a member of the 1997-99 Board of Governors. He also
served the CS as: Chair of the Electronic Products and Services
Committee in 2000; Vice President for Standards in 1999; CS
Web Editor-in-Chief; Vice Chair of the Standards Activities
Board from 1996-98; Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Micro from 1995-98;
IEEE Micro Standards Editor from 1992-94; and Chair of the
Microprocessor Standards Committee from 1992-95. Steve has
served on the IEEE Micro Editorial Board since 1992. He has
received the Third Millennium Medal, the Golden Core Award,
and the Meritorious Service Award.
In addition to his CS activities, Steve currently is a member
of the IEEE Technical Activities Board and IEEE Meetings and
Services Committee. In 2002, Steve served on the IEEE PSPB/TAB
Electronic Products and Services Committee and IEEE Employee
Benefit Committee. He was Vice Chair for Appeals of the IEEE
Standards Association from 2001-02, and served on the IEEE
Standards Association Board of Governors from 2001-02. Steve
was Chair of the IEEE Standards Board New Standards Committee
from 1996-97, and served on the IEEE Standards Board from
1994-97. He was Chair of the IEEE Standards Board Seminars
Committee from 1994-95.
Steve has 30 years of management, marketing, and engineering
experience in semiconductors, systems, standards, and software.
He is President & CEO of Picosoft, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based
consulting firm specializing in high-tech management consulting,
strategic planning, marketing, business development, and standards.
Previously, Steve was Vice President of Marketing at Equator
Technologies, a broadband signal-processor semiconductor startup;
Vice President of Business Development at Tycho Networks,
a telecommunications startup; Director of Strategic Planning
and Market Development at National Semiconductor; Director
of SPARC Marketing at Sun Microsystems; Director of Microprocessor
Architecture and Applications Engineering at National Semiconductor;
General Manager of the Honeywell/Synertek University of California.
He has authored more than 20 technical publications on signal
processing, expert systems, computer graphics, and memory
and microprocessor technology.
